A London hotel has pledged to raise £10,000 for five charities that benefit its local community.

Lancaster London, which overlooks Hyde Park in W2, is asking its guests to add £1 to their final bill. For every £10 raised, hotel staff will donate one hour of their time to take part in charity fundraising through various events.

Charities to benefit are Eaves - a charity supporting women who have experienced violence, trafficking and prostitution; COSMIC - the Children of St Mary's Intensive Care bereavement service; the Micky Star Community Nursery for children living in poor neighbourhoods; the Vital Regeneration programme enabling less advantaged young people to get into work; and SleepSmart which supports the homeless in Westminster.

Additionally, ongoing support will be continued for the hotel’s local churches, schools and residents associations.

The Charity Consortium's ambassador Margaret Pollock said: "On behalf of the charities, and all the people they will help, I'd like to say a massive thank you. Lancaster London has again shown itself to be a vital part of this community. It's so much more than a hotel - it's an institution."

John Firrell, executive director of Considerate Hoteliers said Lancaster London sets "a wonderful example to other hotels and organisations".
