Free goodies and offers were handed to the public as yoga studio Hot Yoga House in Eastcote held an open day on Saturday (February 6).

The open day was held to celebrate its one year anniversary, after a launch that was so successful it had to turn away customers from classes.

The open day offered discounted membership, as well as healthy eating demonstrations, yoga classes, nutribullet samples, mindfulness courses, massage packages, goodie bags and more.

Co-owner Amy Partridge said: "It was a really successful day actually, we were expecting a couple of hundred people but we got well over that by the end. People came down who were already members, and then obviously we've got loads of new people as well."

Ms Partridge and co-owner Leanne Weston, both from Ruislip, were inspired to open the studio after travelling around south-east Asia.

Ms Partridge said: "I was travelling in south-east Asia and studied yoga, and I then did it a little bit back here and just wanted to bring yoga into my everyday life, and give back to people what I've been able to find from it."

Ms Weston said: "I've got scoliosis, my spine is slightly twisted, and I've spent years going to doctors, chiropractors, I've had X-Rays in hospital and nothing really worked and I was in pain. Then I heard about the hot yoga, and I still can't believe how much it's helped me, and now I'm completely pain-free.

"It's massive in Australia and massive in America. There were a few studios in London when we started, but it wasn't as big as I thought it should be.

"Since we've been open it's been amazing. Seeing people's progression from when they started to where they are now is just unbelievable.

"People who have lost stones in weight, people who came in really shy, after a couple of months just become completely different people.

"You see people coming in here every day and coming into class, but you don't really know what's going on in their life; for a lot of students, they're going through a tough time and the classes really help them."

A yoga class in session...

Hot yoga is a practise of yoga that is done in a room heated to 40 degrees Celsius, and has been said to increase flexibility, decrease stress and heal sports injuries. Traditional Bikram Yoga is a 90-minute class in the hot room.

Ms Weston said: "When we opened a year ago, we started with just the Hot 90, so a 90-minute Bikram-inspired class. Now we offer a range of classes, so we have five or six kinds, Flow Yoga, Candlelight Yoga... We're reaching the demands of every student here.

"Everyone has such a busy schedule, so we introduced 60-minute classes which are much shorter... Whatever is right for them.

"Before we even opened the studio we did four years of research, we travelled the world, we did work experience in a lot of studios as well. We got our inspiration from all around the world and made it our own."

Beginners can claim 30 days of unlimited yoga for £40 if they come and sign up as a new student. Why not sign up here for a class?
