STAFF of a Harrow-based housing association celebrated its Golden Jubilee with supporters, funders, board members and politicians.

Harrow Churches Housing Association (HCHA), based in St John's Road, hosted its 50th reception at the House of Commons on Monday.

Mayor of Harrow Councillor Ajay Maru said: “Congratulations to HCHA on their Golden Jubilee. "This summer I visited one of their schemes - St Barnabas - and I saw myself what a wonderful job they’re doing for elderly Harrow residents.

“We look forward to our continued partnership between HCHA and the council.”

Churchgoers formed HCHA in 1964 to providing housing for vulnerable people in Harrow and extended into Hounslow and Hillingdon three years ago.

HCHA chairman Barry Ingate said: “We’ve grown through exciting times and achieved what we set out to deliver, thanks to our diverse board.

“We’re fortunate to have caring and enthusiastic staff to enable us to proceed.”

The reception was attended by Harrow councillors and Gareth Thomas, Labour MP for West Harrow, Bob Blackman, the Conservative MP for Harrow East, and Nick Hurd, the Conservative MP for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner.
