Post-mortem examinations are now taking place on four men who were killed in a mid-air collision between a helicopter and an aircraft in Buckinghamshire.

On Friday (November 17), a "number of casualties" were reported following a collision in Upper Winchendon.

Four men died at the scene, three of whom are believed to be British nationals, the other whom is a Vietnamese national.

Officers from Thames Valley Police remained at the scene in Waddesdon two days after the fatal accident, when work began with the military to remove the aircraft from the woodlands.

All bodies of the victims have now been recovered, a Thames Valley Police spokesman confirmed.

Post-mortem examination of the four men involved began on Sunday (November 19) and is expected to last several days.

Identities will not be released before formal identifications take place.

Speaking two days after the incident, Superintendent Rebecca Mears said: “Our thoughts remain with the families of the men who have tragically lost their lives.

"Specially-trained family liaison officers are continuing to offer their support to the families of the victims affected, three of whom we understand to be British nationals, one of whom is a Vietnamese national."

She added: “Work will today focus on removing the aircraft from the scene which will be done with specialist support.

"I would like to reiterate my thanks to the local community for their understanding while the investigation is ongoing in the area.”
