Summer has arrived and Buckinghamshire is heating up, with temperatures set to reach 33 degrees.

Whilst it might be great catching the sun, here are our top 10 tips on how to get a good night's sleep in the hot weather.

1. If it's too hot in your room, try and unplug appliances which you aren't using. Laptop and phone chargers all emit heat and will make your room warmer.

2. Your feet and wrists have pulse points and if you need to cool down, dip your feet in water or run your wrists under a cold tap.

3. They say old is gold so try this trick of hanging a wet sheet where there is an open window which will bring down the room temperature.

4. Wear cotton pyjamas or use cotton bed sheets.

5. Flip your pillow over. We've all done it to get the cooler side and it does help.

6. Soak a flannel in cold water and rest it on your head as you go to sleep.

7. If you're not in the house during the day, keep your curtains and blinds shut as it helps keep the room cool.

8. Sleep scientists have said that if you use any fan, make it an electric one which is the most efficient at making sure there's regular air flow in the room.

9. Have a lukewarm shower. Putting your whole body into cold water will increase your body temperature as it tries to compensate.

10. If you live in a house with multiple floors, try and sleep in a lower level room as heat rises.
