Some of London's most famous sights have been unveiled in a list of the greatest British designs of all time.

The humble red telephone box (K series) has topped a national poll of the greatest Brit designs with the beloved Routemaster bus a close second.

A new study by One Poll, which surveyed 2,000 adults, found 77% of Brits believe the UK produces quality homegrown designs.

And the survey also found that classic designs such as the Raleigh Chopper and Concorde leave us feeling nostalgic.

Some of London's most famous landmarks and most common sights made it into the top 25 best designs, including the London taxi, Tube map, London Eye and Wembley Stadium.

Design expert Professor Catherine McDermott, Director of Curating Contemporary Design at London’s Kingston University, was specially commissioned by Samsung to conduct the study to celebrate the launch of the Galaxy S6, their most ambitious smartphone design to date.

Professor McDermott led a panel of judges to create a longlist of great British designs, which was then put to the national poll.

Conor Pierce, Vice President of IT & Mobile Samsung UK and Ireland, says: “Great design is the marriage of form and function, creating something that is both stylish and useful.

"It’s fascinating to see how the combination of curves and straight edges give designs a timeless, classic feel – in fact none of the designs in our list have aged at all. We have taken inspiration from these designs for the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge; harmonising style and practicality in one single device.”

‘The Samsung Galaxy S6 Great British Design Study’ discovered that three-quarters of us think design is important when choosing a phone and over half of us (58%) prefer curves over straight lines when it comes eye catching designs.

Also featuring in the list of great British designs are numerous representatives from the fashion world such as the miniskirt, Burberry trench coat and wellington boots.
