Homes in west London are definitely not cheap, with almost all properties selling for more than £1m in nearly 20 of the area's postcodes last year.
More than half also went for more than £1m in dozens more west London areas, based on figures from Land Registry price paid data for 2014.
In 18 postcode sectors across the W and SW postcodes, more than 90% of homes went for more than £1m including:
- 44 out of 45 in SW1X 8
- 35 out of 37 in SW71
- 53 out of 58 in SW1W 9
- 21 out of 23 in SW1W 0
In 29 out of 46 postcode sectors, where there were sales in 2014, the SW postcode saw half or more of homes selling for £1m or more, while it was 42 out of 102 postcode sectors in the W postcode.
Just one area in the Westminster-part of WC postcodes saw less than a majority of properties going for £1m.
The Land Registry lists the price paid for every property bought at market value by non-commercial buyers, so auction sales and property brought through companies is excluded.
It may take several weeks for sales to be registered after completion so some sales from later in February may not be listed yet.
