Sherman was yellow when they spotted him. Tied up in a field with orange rope, covered in yellow grease and dirt. He’s had an eventful life – and he’s still only 18 months old.

Arriving at the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT), as an 8 month old yellow puppy, they cleaned him up, and realised he had a skin condition which meant he was partially bald. As he recovered and his hair grew back, staff noticed he had begun to limp. X-rays showed he had a problem with his left, back hip which needed an operation.

Two operations later, Sherman was fortunate to be offered, at no cost to NAWT, a 10 week course of hydrotherapy.

Since then, he has made great progress. He is enjoying stretching his legs after months of restricted exercise. I’ve just accompanied him on one of his walks but he is not out of the woods yet. He continues to have a slight limp although NAWT hope that, in time, he will no longer need pain relief. What he does need is a new home.

Sherman is a clever boy who loves cuddles and company. He knows basic commands and is eager to learn. He could live with another calm dog. If you are interested in homing this lovely lurcher, call 020 8950 0177 or see more details at www.nawt.org.uk
