Phoebe, the dog, is exhausted. She has just had a day out with her family preparing their caravan on the Isle of Wight for the Summer. She’s had a taste of what to expect in future months - swimming, cliff walks and pub lunches.

Five years ago Phoebe experienced the equivalent for humans of winning the lottery. She was rehomed from Dogs Trust by a family whom she adores.

Now it’s Lola’s turn, waiting in the wings at Dogs Trust, to also feel like she has won the lottery. Lola, a Staffie cross, born on August 24 2012, was handed into Dogs Trust last February as her owner could not look after her. She is a friendly girl who needs an active home where she can have lots of exercise. She gets on well with other dogs but needs to be the only dog in the household. Lola does not like being left, so is spending time in the office of Sian, the Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust where she “loves everyone who walks through”.

Sian says “Lola hides her treats in boxes around the office and comes back for them later. She jumps on my lap and falls asleep with her head on my desk! She’s so lovely.”

Lola needs a home with people who have had dogs before, where she can have the training she needs. If this could be you, contact Dogs Trust on 01895 453930 or see her at Harvil Rd, Harefield UB9 6JW.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for a dog-friendly place to visit, the Isle of Wight produces a PawPrint Guide setting out the Top Ten things that make dogs wag their tails on the island. Top of the list is exploring the woods.

Nearer home, The Mayhew Animal Home is holding their fantastic Spring Fair on Sunday April 27 from 12pm-4pm. There will be children’s games, crafts, stalls, an Easter Egg hunt and a chance to meet their cats. The Mayhew is at Trenmar Gardens, Kensal Green NW10 6BJ.
