Schools break up today. Easter holidays stretch ahead with days to be filled with fun things to do. One option is to visit the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) rehoming centre at Watford.

Between April 12 and April 28, they are holding an Easter Bunny Sponsorship Event where we are invited to meet their beautiful rabbits who are looking for a home. In return for a £15 donation, visitors receive a Certificate, a letter, a photo of the rabbits, a tour of the rabbit area and an Easter goodie bag.

While there, look out for 3 baby lionhead rabbits - Daisy, George and Philip - who are looking for a new home. They would love to live together as a trio (they are neutered) but, if necessary, one of the boys could be homed to someone who already has a neutered female looking for a companion.

As they are young and slightly shy, NAWT would like to home them either to adults or families with children where the adults will be doing most of the cleaning and handling. They will need to be handled regularly to build up their confidence. If you can offer these baby lionheads a home, phone 020 8950 0177 or go and see them at Tylers Way, Watford-By-Pass WD25 8WT.

If you have time to spare, NAWT has vacancies for a range of volunteers. They are desperate for a gardener. Their 4 acre site provides a place of safety for over 400 animals a year but it needs to be kept looking nice. They also need someone to help with handywork and the washing. Whenever I visit, the dogs and cats are lying on lovely clean blankets but the laundry is in full flow. Even giving as little as two hours of time regularly can make a difference.

Time given by volunteers in 2012 equated to about £320,000 in monetary terms. If you can help or want to know opening times, go to www.nawt.org.uk .
