Uxbridge shoppers will be served up a big treat with two celebrity chefs showing off their culinary skills.

Customers of Intu Uxbridge shopping centre can watch the UK’s youngest head chef, Luke Thomas, and Michelin award-winning chef Jean-Christophe Novelli show how to create mouth-watering dishes at home.

Mr Thomas thinks cooking is accessible to everyone and can be enjoyed by all walks of life.

He told getwestlondon: “My food is simple, comforting, stripped back, accessible and there's nothing in there that scares anybody. It's food we know well, cooked with a bit of love and a bit of passion. Nice and simple, quick and tasty!"

The 21-year-old, who is set to open another new restaurant in Dubai later this year, will demonstrate four different dishes.

He said: “When people can see a pile of raw ingredients and within 15 minutes they've got a really tasty, hearty plate of food, cooked in a shopping centre on a camping stove, people will realise, actually cooking is really simple!"

Jean-Christophe Novelli will show shoppers how to create a combination of dishes from his books.

These include chicken chocolate, cooked with cocoa and coffee seeds, a white bean and vanilla veloute soup, and a mushroom gateau, which is Mr Novelli's particular way of gently cooking mushrooms with a pancake and caramel cage.

He said: “I'm really looking forward to it and I promise to teach some useful tips. You can buy your ingredients from anywhere, so long as they're fresh.”

Mr Novelli, who is celebrating 40 years in the industry this year, recommends cutting down on saturated fat and sugar in cooking.

You can join the esteemed chefs in The Piazza, Uxbridge, who will also be answering any questions, meeting shoppers plus handing out treats for all to try.

Craig Higgins, marketing manager at Intu Uxbridge, said: “We’re delighted to announce our two celebrity chefs who will be joining us for The Big Treat this May.

"Both Luke and Jean-Christophe will be bringing their variety of skills to Intu Uxbridge, and showing shoppers how to get creative in their kitchens at home too.”

The events mark Intu Uxbridge's The Big Treat throughout May, where the shopping centre will be host to a variety of free entertainment and fun for all the family.

To catch the chefs, Luke Thomas will appear on Saturday (May 30) and Jean-Christophe Novelli will be there on Sunday May (31).
