Type in the word "cosy" into Google, and the first definition to pop up reads: "giving a feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation."

After dining in No. 11 Pimlico Road, they may want to add a picture of this Belgravia restaurant too.

With freezing cold temperatures outside, walking into the venue is a treat - with a spacious setting and a diverse range of stylish interior.

My friend and I begin with the crostini (£4.95) and the aubergine and sweet potato croquettes (£7.50).

Crostini

You get to pick and mix your ingredients with the crostini dish, so on this occasion my friend chose the smoked salmon, truffle honey and ricotta - a great choice packed full of flavour.

Meanwhile the croquettes made for an excellent start, with delicious feta salsa atop a crisp coating.

On to the mains and what I felt was the meal of the night, the justifiably expensive slow cooked pork belly (£19.95).

The meat is perfectly cooked for a crisp top and tender middle, while the chorizo and black bean stew it comes with makes for a strong, heavy flavour.

Opting for a cheaper option, my friend has the wild mushroom gnocchi (£12.95) - a creamy dish comprising tarragon, créme fraiche, parmesan and truffle oil.

The drinks menu, made particularly appealing by the inviting, stylish bar in the centre of the room, is also strong, with the pick of the menu the crisp Mamaku Sauvignon Blanc (£7.50).

Staff are friendly and offer timely service without hassle, but what's most pleasant here is the relaxed, warm atmosphere with not a penny spent on cheap material.

On to dessert, and my friend and I chose the sticky toffee pudding (£7.50) and the white chocolate panna cotta (£6.95) - both an excellent way to cap the evening, particularly the former with its rich butterscotch sauce.

The verdict

The Christmas decorations certainly help, but this restaurant is an excellent, cosy venue helped by strong, expertly cooked food.
