Although Jonathan Smyth has owned the pub for only under a year, The Queen's Head has been a part of his life for 13 years.

Before Jonathan took control in July, his mum and dad owned the Cranford.

"I've introduced Thai food," he says. "I'm not really changing the decoration, but I am changing the way the bar looks."

The pub was originally a coach and horse stop back in 1604.

Not much remains of the original building since its renovation in the 1940s, but it boasts two fireplaces that have been around for more than 400 years.

The Queen's Head is frequented mostly by local regulars, but its proximity to the airport means that travellers stop by occasionally.

And when tourists and other new people visit, they are not left to sit by themselves in a corner.

"The warm welcome you receive as a new customer is just outstanding," Jonathan claims. "I have never met anyone who felt intimidated walking in here."
