What we often forget when it comes to fashion is our feet!

When accessorising an outfit, yourshoes are really the make or break factor, yet even so many women neglect the importance of a good pair of heels.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a pair of flats - after all, gladiator sandals are very 'in' at the moment; however, every woman should own a pair of heels. And chunky heels rule this season.

The hefty heels have reference to shoes from the 70s, and the 80s, with a contemporary revision. The central themes are platform soles and thick heels. Other styles to look out for are wedge heels and clog heels that are just as chunky, plus strappy platform sandals, shoe boots, ankle boots and platform gladiator sandals.

Keeping this in mind, you should also seek out certain colours and textures that are hot on the catwalks. Patent leather is all the rage, especially black which creates a rock-fetish look.

Patent black is not restricted to just the night, it can be worn through the day with nude or romantic colours.

Alongside this wooden look, hefty heels are also very popular. They are perfect with summer outfits for the day and night and radiate an authentic 70s vibe.

Neon hefty heels are perfect for adding character to an outfit. The brighter the better but be sure not to over do the colours in your outfit as the shoes should be a focal point.

As for textures, patent leather, satin, metallic and snakeskin effect are lustrous and trendy.

When buying your set of hefty heels do not assess the practicality of them as, every once in a while, a girl has to indulge herself with shoes - the higher the better!

Just remember to practice walking in them before your glamorous night out...
