It's the first day back to work for many Londoners and the reality of everyday life is sinking in.
With the windy weather set to continue and the chocolates starting to run out, another holiday is over - but there are still bank holidays to look forward to this year.
2016 brings us eight bank holidays as usual. Here are the other dates to put in your diary:
- Friday January 1 (New Year's Day)
- Friday March 25 (Good Friday)
- Monday March 28 (Easter Monday)
- Monday May 2
- Monday May 30
- Monday August 29
- Monday December 26 (Boxing Day)
Tuesday December 27 (in lieu of Christmas Day being a Sunday)
Bank holidays first came into place in 1971 when most businesses and non-essential services closed down.
