A thief has been jailed and banned from entering Wembley Arena during events after being foiled by tech-savvy police who caught him red handed.

Alexandru Lenca admitted theft after being found with 18 stolen mobiles at an Avenged Sevenfold concert in Wembley Arena on December 1.

Several thefts of phones were reported to the police at the concert who took swift action to arrest the 23-year-old by using a phone tracker app to locate the stolen goods.

Acting Detective Inspector Anthony Bellis said: “Brent Police are committed to not only arresting and charging those criminals who visit Brent specifically with the intention of committing crime, but also to prevent them from committing further offences in the future by applying for and robustly enforcing anti social behaviour orders.”

Lenca, of Leucha Road, east London, was sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment at North West London Magistrates’ Court on Friday last week.He will also receive a two-year anti social behaviour order on his release preventing him from entering an area around Wembley Arena on days that music or sporting events are being held.
