Commuters heading to South Ruislip station over the past couple of weeks have met with giant puddles under the railway bridge in Station Approach.

The flooding gave people using the footpath outside the station a soggy start to the week, with many turning to Twitter to air their frustrations.

@robqpr92 tweeted: “@Hillingdon the state of the bridge by South Ruislip station is ridiculous. More drainage needs to be added! #wetfeetAGAIN” but @Karli_Wallcraft had come up with a solution when she tweeted: “Under the bridge was flooded again but I drove to the station today :) #southruislip #notgettingmeagain #dryfeet”.

Things hadn’t improved by Tuesday when @Sherilyn_V tweeted: “Omg again really? South ruislip bridge is one big tsunami, sigh” and @phil_the_gunner tweeted: “@Hillingdon please review the drainage under the South Ruislip station bridge, we're not even in the height of winter & it's flooding daily.”

Hillingdon Council officers met with an engineer from Thames Water on November 5 and it was decided that the water company will be monitoring CCTV of about 20 metres of the sewage pipe along Station Approach.

A spokesman for Thames Water said: “We will be working with the Highways Team as well to clamp down on drainage in the area.”
