DO YOU fancy meeting some new people and helping a charity?

A fun speed dating evening is being held tomorrow (Thursday) to raise money for the Mat Davis Foundation, a charity that supports young people with terminal cancer.

It is being organised by Stevie Davis, 33, of Warwick Road, West Drayton, whose younger brother died of cancer last year.

Mat was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in 2009, when he was 20. Nevertheless, he was determined to help other people and lived each day as if it were his last.

He raised thousands of pounds while battling the illness and his last wish was for a charity to be set up to help other young people and their families deal with having terminal cancer.

Mat, who was 23 when he died, lived in Warwickshire but his sister hopes to create a fundraising community to allow her and her children, Nathan, Elisha and Lottie, to contribute to the foundation and keep Mat’s legacy alive in her own home town.

A video about Mat is on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKuJAoo1rV4.
