Sipson's village Christmas tree has been stolen, less than 24 hours after it had decorated and lighted up by locals.

The tree, which was planted on the green on Sipson Road, had been dressed by carol-singing children from nearby Heathrow Primary School on Monday evening, during a special community ceremony.

It was missing by Tuesday morning, and the theft has been reported to the police.

Jackie Clark-Basten, who runs Hair by Jackie hairdressers, also on Sipson Road, said: "I am really disappointed.

"It is a sad reflection of the type of society we live in that someone would steal something that has no monetary value at all and was a community symbol of Christmas."

If you know where the tree is, call police on 101.
