Children who have been learning about the First World War held a commemorative event to mark its centenary year - and met a few former pupils too.

Youngsters at Yeading Junior School met Alan and Dorothy Roland at the event held on Remembrance Day, November 11, who both came to study at the school in Carlyon Road, Hayes, in the 1930's.

Some of the current pupils took part in a WW1 model making competition and had created miniature trenches, battlefields and army tanks.

Others treated audience members, including Mayor of Hillingdon Catherine Dann, to performances and speeches.

Representatives from Yeading Library in Yeading Gardens, Hayes, St Edmund's Church in Edmunds Close, Hayes, Warren Park Residents' Association, Yeading School governors and borough people also joined the commemorative afternoon.
