The world of twitter was alive with congratulations for Mo Farah after the former Hounslow schoolboy struck gold once more at the European Championships.

The double Olympic champion was back to his form of 2012 with an impressive win in the 10,000m in Zurich, just ahead of Team GB team-mate Andy Vernon.

One of the first tweets came from Teddington Cricket Club, where Vernon was once a barman, and which claimed a 1-2 for Teddington as Farah used to live there too.

Elsewhere, Matt Wilkinson producer of TV shows like a League of Our Own and X Factor, tweeted Well done Mo Farah - great to see you back on the track doing what you do best , while sports reporter Jon Durham tweeted There is something very loveable about Mo Farah what a tremendous athlete he is.

Marathon legend Paula Radcliffe saluted a magnificent night for Team GB, tweeting Well done all the GB athletes tonight. What a great night! , while sports clothing company Team Stickman tweeted BOOOOOMMMM!!!!!! WIN FOR Mo Farah #mobot time!!!

Farah, who indeed celebrated with his trademark Mobot, told the BBC: "This means a lot to me, it hasn't been easy, but it does mean a lot."

Following his double Olympic gold in 2012, Farah had postboxes painted gold in his honour in both Feltham and Teddington.

He also paid a visit afterwards to his first school, Feltham Community College, where he even caught up with a read of his favourite local paper, the Hounslow Chronicle.
