Ealing residents were without water on Friday morning (March 18) after widespread problems with supply in the W5 area.

Thames Water has issued a statement implying a faulty valve could be affecting water pressure in its network, although the cause of the problem was yet to be confirmed.

It is not known how many households the issue were affected but the problem was resolved at just after 10.30am.

The company stated that a "specialist team" was heading to the area to provide support to engineers already at the scene.

A torrent of customers took to twitter to complain about the issue.

The area affected stretches from Walpole and Lammas parks to the west to Ealing Common railway station in the east and from Ealing Broadway station down as far south as South Ealing station.

In a twist of irony, the shortage comes just hours after the company took to social media to promote the forthcoming "water saving week" to its customers.
